Context and registration of the workshop "Optical Properties of Individual Nanowires and Quantum Dots in High Magnetic Field"

The aim of this event is to bring together scientists working on quantum dots (including colloidal quantum dots) and nano wires and physicists from the high magnetic field community, who have a long tradition in the investigation of epitaxial semiconductor nanostructures in high magnetic fields. We have noticed that there is surprisingly little overlap between the high magnetic field semiconductor physics and the nano wires/quantum dot communities. This workshop aims to bridge this gap and tries to realize two goals : i) Demonstrate to the material scientists that a high magnetic field is an extremely powerful tool to investigate semiconductor nanostructures. ii) Demonstrate to the physicists that these new types of nanostructures (wires and colloidal dots) present novel model systems with properties that cannot be realized in traditional epitaxial materials.

The number of participants is limited to 50. The talks will be given by the number of invited speakers. One poster session will be organized for the participants. The program is available below
