Chaire d’excellence Pierre de Fermat

Ennio Arimondo, Professor at the University of Pisa has been honoured with a Chaire d’Excellence Pierre de Fermat of the Région Midi-Pyrénnées. His career is marked by many original results in atomic and molecular physics, but also in condensed matter physics and nonlinear physics. We can mention the developments of novel spectroscopic methods, his pioneering work on chaos in laser systems or the diffraction of matter waves by light. Prof. Ennio Arimondo has collaborated with many prestigious teams worldwide. He is the author of numerous publications which reveal his imagination, originality, and scientific culture. In the next three years at the LNCMI, he will develop atomic and molecular physics in high magnetic field in collaboration in particular with Rémy Battesti, Agathe Cadène, Mathilde Fouché, Geert Rikken, Carlo Rizzo and Stefano Scotto. During his stay he will also give a series of lectures on the impact of magnetic fields in atomic and molecular physics, starting from an historical point of view up to the more recent advances.
