Fete de la science 2014

Once again this year, our laboratory will contribute to the French Annual Science Festival.

As part of the European Research Night (http://ec.europa.eu/research/resear...) we have presented two experimental demonstrations ("lasers" and "superconductivity") September 26th from 6pm to 12pm at Cité de l’Espace in Toulouse (http://www.toulouse.lncmi.cnrs.fr/s...).

Moreover, there has been two open doors days. Friday, October 17th for students and Saturday 18th (14h-18h), open to all.

Guided laboratory tour show our installations and, in particular, our magnets which can be runned up to 180 teslas, which corresponds to three millions times the earth magnetic field, but also the 14 megajoules generator, which delivers currents of several thousands of amperes... Spectacular experiments will illustrate the research done in the lab. Among them: the magnetic levitation of a superconducting car, the magnetic propulsion of a metallic ring, changes of the states of matter (liquefaction of oxygen, solidification of nitrogen, magnetic transition of iron, ...), optical and magnetic demos, etc.

These two days were the occasion for the public to discuss freely with researchers, technicians, engineers, and students of the lab, and surely to create vocations.
