Astro-BMV and Muonic-BMV

In collaboration with Arnaud Dupays at IRAP in Toulouse, we perform theoretical studies on quantum vacuum under extreme conditions as in the case of vacuum polarisation in muonic atoms and in the neighbourhood of neutral stars where magnetic fields up to 10^9 T are present. Such magnetic fields allow to test the existence of a new phenomenon : the braking of the neutron stars due to the interaction of the dipole magnetic field of the star with the magnetization induced by quantum vacuum (Quantum Vacuum Friction). This new phenomenon is one of the rare macroscopic evidence of quantum vacuum magnetic properties.
